If the grass is greener on the other side, then if the guy on the other side is looking at me, does he think my grass is greener when his is the greenest? And if his IS greenest, how did he do it??? (Unknown)
We, as students of International Relations, are always analyzing and studying foreign countries, their political systems, culture, geography, natural resources etc. I'll speak for myself, though I have an odd feeling many will agree, that I am often curious even jealous of the state of affairs in other countries. How are we so backward and everyone else so...advanced??? Why do they have and we don't? Why is the grass always greener on the other side?
I've decided to play off a sub-theory of liberalism, and present every week a different country, in the hopes that exposure to other countries and their culture will give us a better understanding of the world we live in and the people that affect our lives. What little we know about so many countries is based mostly on the headlines we read. I hope that a glimpse into 'The Other' will open our eyes, and help us understand the people (and motives) behind the headlines.

hey Jo! whats up?
so here goes... it's a great idea, I would either take a topic and talk about it in a few different countries (so that u get a real perspective on whether the grass is really greener and if so- in who's garden?) or i would just take one country- but really show a lot of different things about it. cause now u gave 2 examples in 2 different topics from 2 different countries. its informing- but i kinda didnt get the connection between the 2... its a great annitiative!!! if only i could do so as well....
